How do I install Appraise-It?

Installing Appraise-It on a standalone computer is a simple operation that takes little preparation. Installing Appraise-It on a network takes slightly more prep work.

A standalone computer is any computer that will be running Appraise-It and storing all of its necessary files (the TRADATA folder) locally, i.e. on the C: drive. This would apply to you if you only have one computer running Appraise-It, or you have multiple computers running Appraise-It that do not share files between them.

A networked computer is any computer that will be running Appraise-It and storing all of its necessary files (the TRADATA folder) on another computer, and accessing them through a mapped network drive.

To Install Appraise-It On A Networked Computer
1. You will need to decide which computer on your network will act as the server. The server is the computer which stores all of your shared information, including your registration, digital signature(s), report files, custom skeletons, common responses, and Neighborhood, Lender, and Wincomp databases if you use them. The computers which use Appraise-It and access the files via a mapped network drive are called clients.
2. On the server, share out your C: drive. Click here for specific instructions.
3. Make a note of your server's name.

To Find Your Server's Name
a. On the server desktop, hold down the Windows Logo key and tap "R".
b. Type in "cmd" without the quotes then hit "Enter".
c. In the window that appears, type "hostname" without the quotes then hit "Enter".
d. Your server's name will be printed out on the next line. Write it down or memorize it, then close the window.

4. On each client, set up a mapped network drive pointing at the server's C: drive. Click here for specific instructions.
5. Download the installer, available at www.sfrep.com/downloads. Save it to the desktop of each client and server.
