How do I add exceptions to Norton antivirus products?

Oftentimes Norton and Symantec products misidentify legitimate programs as security threats. Follow the steps below to prevent Norton and Symantec products from doing so. If you have trouble following these instructions, contact Norton or Symantec technical support. Their technicians may ask for certain information about Appraise-It, provided below.

Program Folder: C:\TRA
Program File: C:\TRA\TRA32\TRA.EXE

Norton 360
Note: If Norton 360 has quarantined Appraise-It, please refer to this FAQ for instructions on restoring it.

1. Open Norton 360.
2. Click the Options icon, then click Antivirus. 
3. Click the Scans and Risks tab, then scroll to the bottom.
4. Click the Configure [+] option next to "Items to Exclude from Scans".
5. Click the Add button, then enter C:\TRA for the exception location and check the "Include Subfolders" option, then click OK, then click OK.
6. Click the Configure [+] option next to "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect and SONAR Detection".
7. Click the Add button, then enter C:\TRA for the exception location and check the "Include Subfolders" option, then click OK, then click OK.
8. Click Apply, then OK.
9. If you still cannot access Appraise-It, reinstall Appraise-It

Norton 360 should now ignore Appraise-It in its security scans. 

Norton Internet Security
1. Open Norton Internet Security.
2. Click Settings, then click Antivirus and SONAR Exclusions in the menu pane on the left.
3. Click the Configure [+] option next to "Items to Exclude from Scans".
4. Click the Add button, then enter C:\TRA for the exception location and check the "Include Subfolders" option, then click OK, then click OK.
5. Click the Configure [+] option next to "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Protection".
6. Click the Add button, then enter C:\TRA for the exception location and check the "Include Subfolders" option, then click OK, then click OK.
7. Click OK, then close Norton Internet Security.
8. If you still cannot access Appraise-It, reinstall Appraise-It

Norton Internet Security should now ignore Appraise-It in its security scans.

Symantec Endpoint Protection
1. Open Symantec Endpoint Protection.
2. Browse to the Exceptions Policy page, then click Exceptions.
3. Click Add, then click Windows Exceptions, then click Folder.
4. Select [NONE] in the Prefix variable dropdown.
5. Enter C:\TRA in the File or Folder text box.
6. Select All next to "Specify the type of scan that excludes this folder".
7. Click OK, then close Symantec Endpoint Protection.
8. If you still cannot access Appraise-It, reinstall Appraise-It

Symantec Endpoint Protection should now ignore Appraise-It in its security scans.
